Craig Rosen, PhD, Executive Chairman & Chief Scientific Officer
Prior to joining PhaseBio, Dr. Rosen was Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Teva Biopharmaceuticals, USA and remains a consultant for the company. He was also the Co-Founder, Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Chairman of CoGenesys before its acquisition by Teva Pharmaceuticals earlier this year. Prior to founding CoGenesys, Dr. Rosen was President and Chief Scientific Officer of Human Genome Sciences as well as a scientific founder and member of their Board. Dr. Rosen has served on several corporate boards as well as the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR) and the Scientific Advisory Boards for the Institute of Human Virology and the Wistar Institute.
Christopher Prior, PhD, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Prior has more than 20 years of experience in the development of biopharmaceuticals, involving more than 20 INDs, four NDAs and three product approvals. Most recently he was the Founder, President and Chief Scientific Officer of BioRexis Pharmaceuticals which was acquired by Pfizer in 2007. In addition to being the Founder and President of Principia Pharmaceuticals, he held positions at Human Genome Sciences, Rhône Poulenc Rorer, Invitron Corporation and Biogen. A proven serial entrepreneur, fund raiser, and prolific inventor, Dr. Prior's success in developing and implementing business development strategies has resulted in the completion of two acquisitions since 2001, generating significant returns to investors.
Lynne Georgopoulos, RN, BS, RAC, Vice President of Clinical Operations & Regulatory Affairs
Lynne Georgopoulos has twenty years of experience in providing clinical operations and regulatory strategic planning for 10+ INDs and 1 NDA, and has coordinated large (+100) multicenter and multinational Phase 1 through Phase 3 clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas (endocrinology, cardiovascular, antiviral, oncology and neurology) at companies such as Centocor, Sanofi and ViroPharma. In addition she has held several key leadership roles as VP Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance, most notably at BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corporation where she played a key role in facilitating the smooth acquisition of BioRexis by Pfizer in 2007. Lynne received her Bachelor of Science degree from Russell Sage College, New York and is Regulatory Affairs certified by the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society.
Adam Bell, PhD, Vice President of Development
Dr. Bell joined PhaseBio from TEVA Pharmaceuticals following their acquisition of CoGenesys, Inc. While at TEVA and in CoGenesys, Adam held the position of Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs. In that roll, he led a fusion protein program from pre-IND through Phase 2. At CoGenesys, Dr. Bell also managed internal and external scientific activities for development and licensing of new products. Prior to joining CoGenesys, Dr. Bell was a member of the senior scientific staff at Human Genome Sciences, where he led programs through all stages of preclinical development from discovery to lead selection, validation, IND and licensing. Prior to joining HGS, Adam was a postdoctoral fellow and recipient of the Fellows Award for Research Excellence at the National Institutes of Health. His work led to publications in Cell, Science, and Nature. Dr. Bell received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from SUNY at Stony Brook and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from SUNY at Buffalo.
Joel F. Sussman, Chief Financial Officer
Joel is a financial management consultant who serves as Chief Financial Officer for early-stage companies. His present and former clients include numerous venture capital-backed life sciences companies. Before beginning his consulting practice in 1995, he had fifteen years experience as Chief Financial Officer and/or Treasurer of public and private technology and healthcare companies. He has an MBA degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Public Accountant.
